Between our seven install crews, we average 20 aluminum fence builds per month. We of course install aluminum fences in Greenville, Greer, Simpsonville and Travelers Rest. There was a time when an aluminum fence was considered expensive and just for estates. Now, many times an aluminum fence is actually less expensive or at least in line with the cost of a wood fence, because of that we are installing them pretty much all over the upstate, especially in new developments between Anderson and Spartanburg, and in the country between Landrum and Pelzer. The big benefit of an aluminum fence is that you get to enclose and define an area, but you get to keep the views. Aluminum fences are generally considered more aesthetically pleasing than a traditional wood or vinyl fences, because aluminum blends in with the landscape. How Much Does An Aluminum Fence Cost?
There are three things that affect the cost of an aluminum fence.
1) Height – A four foot fence is the most commonly used and least expensive aluminum fence. We also frequently use 4.5 foot and 5 foot fences. Six foot and three foot fences are available, but not used as regularly.
2) Style – We use the three rail style fence on the majority of installs. Spear top is also regularly in stock and considered an inexpensive style. If you want to do puppy picket, staggered spear, or closed picket, then be prepared to pay a premium, and sometimes wait 6 weeks or more for the manufacturing lead time.
3) Layout – This is really important. If you are doing an aluminum fence in a freshly cleared new neighborhood with no trees, you are going to love your price. If we are building in North Main or Augusta Rd and we are fighting old growth trees and rocky layouts, then the price will be higher. We can build a 300′ fence on a great layout in one day. The same fence on a tough digging layout will probably take two days. That time is factored into the original quote.
All of our aluminum fence quotes are based on the cost of the fence material and our anticipated time to install the fence. A lot of people talk about price per foot. There is much more into a quote than just the footage times a dollar figure. With that said, of the hundreds of aluminum fences we have done, about the cheapest price per foot we have done is $25. That would be for an extremely long fence on a perfect layout. Something like $27-$35 is more accurate as a baseline. And those figures are for common four foot styles on a standard residential lot. Other fences could be more money. Please don’t take this info and try to guess at what our price would be on your fence. 3 Rail Universal Aluminum Fence
This is the most popular aluminum fence we sell/install in the Greenville area. Most customers select a 4 or 5 foot height, but 3 and 6 foot versions are available. This is popular because it is reasonably priced and like all of our aluminum fences, comes with a 30 year limited warranty. We have 6,000+ feet of this fence in stock and ready to go (in the 4′ height). And we have 3,000+ feet in 5′ height, ready to go at our warehouse in Greenville.
Puppy Picket Aluminum Fence
Notice the double pickets on the bottom third of this aluminum fence. These fences are made specifically to keep small dogs contained. Despite being our most expensive fence, we actually do a lot of puppy picket installs, especially in high end neighborhoods where wood fences aren’t allowed. This style is about 80% more expensive than traditional aluminum. The puppy guard is 16″ tall on 4′ fences and 20″ tall on 5′ fences. We are having to wait 4-8 weeks to get puppy picket orders right now.
2 Rail Universal Top Aluminum Fence
This is the simplest and least expensive aluminum fence we sell. It is 48 inches tall, which makes it an ideal choice if you need to meet the minimum pool code compliance because you blew your budget on the pool! This is still a high quality fence with a 30 year limited warranty. We have 3,000+ feet of this fence in stock at our warehouse in Greenville.
Spear Top Picket Aluminum Fence
This is probably the most formal aluminum fence we install. This fence costs the same as a traditional universal top fence, so despite being fancy, it really isn’t more expensive. While these pickets aren’t sharpened to an edge or point, this fence is typically not installed around many homes with young children. Some dogs can also get their collar stuck on the pickets, just FYI. We can usually get this fence within a week.
Covered Spear Aluminum Fence
This is formally called a universal spear top fence, but we more often call it a covered spear aluminum fence. This style is extremely popular in 54″ with a flush bottom. That particular variety is the least expensive decorative style aluminum fence that is still universally pool compliant.
Staggered Spear Aluminum Fence
Of the six aluminum fences we have shown here, this is probably the one we use the least. It usually takes a couple of weeks to get in stock and it also costs about 15% more than the straight top spear fence. However, for someone looking for a classic aesthetic, this might be the best fit.
Some Past Aluminum Fence Installs
Here is a two rail black aluminum fence we did near Paris Mountain in Greenville. We end up doing a lot of these around pools since they are the least expensive aluminum fences that meet pool code.
You may not be able to tell, but this is actually a bronze aluminum fence. It really takes on more of a coffee color. We snuck into North Carolina and built this one for a customer in Mills River.
Here is your bread and butter 3 rail aka universal top aluminum fence. We install a few miles of this fence each year. We built this one in Easley, but it was basically in Pickens.
Here is a four foot spear top aluminum fence. We installed this near Shannon Forest in what we would have called Greenville twenty years ago, but maybe it is Five Forks now. Notice the arched gate instead of a straight top.
Don’t forget about 6′ fences. We did this aluminum install for River Walk in Simpsonville. This is technically a four rail fence. This is the only 6′ tall aluminum fence that is in stock on short notice.
This isn’t the best image, but what an impressive gate! We installed this near Fountain Inn. This was about $5,500 for the gate, posts, and installation (just as a point of reference). It is 20′ wide.

Aluminum Fence Manufacturers
One thing that isn’t always clear at our first consultation with homeowners is that we don’t make the aluminum fences we install. Just like with a tiler, flooring installer, brick mason, etc, we provide the labor and skill to install the fence. Any time we quote a price on a fence, we are giving you the price for us to purchase, deliver, and install the fence. Below are the brochures of the three manufacturers we use most frequently. When comparing apples to apples, fence panels. posts, and gates are priced within pennies of each other between manufacturers. So none of these are a high-end or low-end option. We probably use Master Halco the most. We like Hudson a lot for commercial, industrial, and color jobs. Both Master Halco and Hudson are located in the Charlotte area.
